With all the different protein powders on the market you might ask yourself, why would I want to use this one. Most companies today are using whey from cows that have been given the growth hormones rBGH and/or BST. These hormones are contributing factors to early puberty, breast and prostate cancers. Many of the protein powders out there use artificial sweeteners, like aspartame, Acesulfame potassium (ace-K) (these are also a aspartame product), or sucralose, which seems to be the favorite. In some cases you will see three of these used together. There is much data on the dangers of Aspartame and Aspartame has had the most complaints of any food additive available to the public. When sucralose came along it was thought to be better and safer, but research has shown that it kills 50% of friendly bacteria in our intestines. Your intestines are a second immune system, the more friendly bacteria you have, the healthier you are. Sucralose accumulates little by little in your body and some of the side affects include skin rashes/flushing, panic-like agitation, dizziness and numbness, diarrhea, swelling, muscle aches, headaches, intestinal cramping, bladder issues, and stomach pain. We also use a cellulose free fiber in our formula. What's the importance of a cellulose free fiber? In order for the body to break down cellulose you need to have the enzyme cellulase, unfortunately the body does not make this enzyme. Without this enzyme, a waxy build up on the intestinal walls will occur and inhibit absorption. Along with this we added another fiber called Glucomanna, there are a couple of reasons for this. The first is, for the way it expands 50 times it's size and in doing so helps you to feel full so you eat less. The second is, Glucomanna is great for improving digestion and helping with elimination. Because glucomanna delays the emptying of stomach contents, this allows for a more gradual absorption of dietary sugar, and can reduce blood sugar levels.
We have also added inulin, this is a pre-biotic, so it is virtually a fertilizer to you friendly bacteria. If you have been using a product with sucralose this will help rebuild your friendly bacteria.

Because maximum absorption is so important to us we have added the enzymes protease to maximize protein metabolism and lactase, for those that have a lactose issue.
